I have to admit that I am saddened by the title of this post. For after pondering and seeking truth and reality about little Black boys, I am left with the unquestionable realization that little Black boys are the most forgotten and overlooked group in America.

Let me make my point with questions. How many educated men (Black or White) do you know that take the time to impart knowledge and hope into little Black boys? How many little Black boys do you know that are looking for someone that they can call "daddy"? In which state is there an agency that can tell a father who pays child support what the money was used for? When has the church taken up an offering to assist little Black boys in its neighborhood? Does the school system care enough to have an alternative if they kick them out?

Finally, what happens to these forgotten and neglected little Black boys when they start to realize that the schools don't care, children services and child support agencies really don't care, the church really doesn't care, sometimes their real dad, really doesnt care.

They are left to fend for themselves. The gangsta rap stars become their role models. They become obsessed with things and bling and their heads are filled with......well......nothing that you imparted into them. So is it their fault? Or is it our collective fault? My vote is for the latter. Mentor a young Black boy today.

You can even change the color from little Black boys to little White boys, if you like, because poor (economically disadvantaged) little White boys are often in the same predicament.

The hills of life serve as the highpoint
They are the place from which progress can viewed
Or from which inevitability can be surveyed
If I spend my life fulfilling others and rendering service
The hills show me from whence I ascended

If I spend my time complaining and plotting
The hills show me my bitter destiny
The top is good when you worked to arrive there
It holds the inevitable and unenviable fate
For those who were placed there

The first shall be last and the last shall be first
Such philosophy means nothing to nobility
Whether such status be true or imagined
To the one who starts the race light-years behind
To reach the hilltop only places them out of the reach of humanity
And takes them closer to God

Thousands of proud Kenyans lined the streets in Kisumu, Kenya to get a glimpse of the son of one of their own. On Saturday a throng of proud Kenyans came out to greet Sen. Barack Obama as he returned to the home of his late father. He made the trip to draw attention to the AIDS epidemic in Africa.

Such a visit bodes well for Obama, who has done well as United States Senator from Illinois. His story is one that crosses party lines.

Obama's grandmother and uncle still live in the small village. Obama and his father share the same first and last name. His dad died in 1982 in an auto accident.

Kenya has 32 million residents, More than 1.2 million people have been infected with HIV as of 2004. In Kenya the national infection rate is near 6.5%. In the Kisumu region, the rate is 24 percent. This is the reason Obama is there. He seeks to make a difference by raising awareness so that the people can get help across the board.

No real politics here, just one man trying to make a difference. Maybe some others will do the same.

While I am no prude, nor am I an authority on the English language, I wish to express my desire to see all persons, African American or not, use proper English. While knowing and utilizing good English may not guarantee you a good job; not knowing it will certainly decrease your chances to progress. So as you use the new slang, some of which is deragatory to the African American culture and race, stay mindful of where you aspire to go in life. Slang does not make you cool. Being cool is a state of mind that does not have to be validated by others. That which you practice the most will eventually come out, and in some cases, it may be just when you did not need it.

When two people love each other, every song that is played on the radio either makes you happy that you are with the one you are with or that you left the one you had. Music and lyrics evoke appreciation for the present. Jazz, the music of love, is extremely emotive. Although it may not have lyrics, the mood of each section of the song creates a new feeling. Jazz is as indescribable as love itself. It cannot be defined, not can it be constrained. I often hear others say that it is an original African American art form. And it certainly is. But I thoroughly how the Japanese, the African, and the European all interpret jazz. Perhaps we can learn a bit about love through jazz. Jazz completely transcends culture and is limitless. There should be no boundaries. It should continue to evolve. It should not be constrained. Jazz knows no color. Love should be the same way. All are capable of love regardless of how they choose to define. Their own perception of love is their reality. Start writing your own song today. Live a little and enjoy life.
